Ülgens

During my previous visits to the city I used to stay on the European side of the Bosporus, in the şehir merkezi called Sultanahmet. This time for a change we stayed on the Asian side of the city in Yeni şehir as guests of Remzi and Sibel. Thank you very much for introducing us to huge variety of turkish delights and everyhing else! Thanks also goes to my dear friend Arda, who set us up all the way from Aachen. Enjoy the wedding in Tunis!

Sevgili Peter ve Anna,
Yolculuğunuzu büyük bir keyif ve merakla izliyoruz. Sizinle tanıştığımıza çok memnun olduk. Dönüşte İstanbul'a gelirseniz tekrar evimize bekliyoruz.

So I do the translation:
"Dear Peter and Anna,
We are watching your travel with great pleasure and amazement. We are very pleased to have known you.
By the way, if you are planning to visit Kemer/Olympos, you should climb to Yanartas (Burning Stone), and take meat and fish with you. They say, the meat grilled with that natural fire is very tasty. I also got to know this newly. With our best wishes."

Arda's comments: The olympos (yanartas) close to kemer, is on a hill. There is a greek temple there. And the mythos of Chimera is based on this place. The chimera, a mixed animal (human, dragon or smt like that) was killed by Bellerophon, was burried 7 levels below the earth. But it is still living somehow there. The fire is still coming out through the earth and can be seen in olympos.
I don't know what greeks were smoking those days, but it must have been very strong :)

Once you climb up there (45 mins walking) you are so exhausted you could eat anything. The fire is coming out from the stone holes, and is the burning of methane. THe locals there, are grilling meat and making tea on the fire of chimera :)

It is a very nice place. A must see.

See you later, and take care
Arda

I heard about it last time I visited Olympos. We'll try to grill misir. Maybe we can already practice in Azerbaijan. They have flames as well. Hindu pilgrims used to visit them already centuries ago. Greeting to all of you!
